Early travelers called it the Route of Manifest Destiny. This is the route that the emigrants on the Oregon Trail, 49ers on the California Trail, and the Mormons on the Mormon Trail traveled in hopes of reaching their destiny. Each traveler and each route offered a different interpretation of what their destination included.
